We got to keep it going!

Got to keep that light burning!

How many of us take time out to think about helping others even without getting money in the picture? How many of us spend time to think about a hug or a smile or even an acknowledgement that is good enough to brighten up the day for others? How many of us really care about the birds that feed on a sea full of plastic? How many of us care about the coral reefs dying owing to water pollution? How many of us care about the fisheries that are the best source for protein intake, but are an intrinsically polluted species because of the actions of an intelligent race of species? How many of us really do care about the plastic that is accumulating in the oceans that give us life? Don’t we get it by now? Owing to the fact that we are an advanced human species that knows it all? That it is now time to join our hands together, not to sign nuclear treaties but to sign up for the abolition of ‘weapons of mass destruction’ and work on the virtues that could build a distinct circle of inhabitation.

Not many of us are really bothered about all of this at all, at least from where I come from, what’s important is to know how to make money to pay off bills or to buy material asset, how to travel back home from work just to reach in time to watch the latest episode of – wait for it! Not some light entertainment that takes one’s mind off petty issues, but a full over dose of the cultural drama that exists within the society I live in. This society that has no regard for women to such an irate level that ‘Nielson’ (a research firm) disclosed very recently that 87% of indian women that belong to one of the most culturally diverse societies in the world, are the most stressed out women on this planet!

I hate to bifurcate on sexual, cultural or religious grounds but the outcomes of living in a country such as the one I live in, is that I can see very clearly, the propaganda that is making us dormant. Who do I mean by US? The largest democracy in the world, we are sadly giving into the trap of mass produced propaganda, a very micro level example of this is the fact that ‘sarees’ (a traditional attire) expose a lot of any women’s body; is given positive associations versus women who wear crop tops that show off a ‘wee’ bit of our curves! The reason I highlight this is because it is absolutely hilarious when a country addresses such issues with significant enthusiasm whilst inordinate problems perpetually saturate us; not only women centric issues, but colossal issues that encompass major pockets and classes of the population.

[quote_right]It is about countries, about governments that do ‘good’ – not for their people, but for the awe-inspiring good of humanity[/quote_right]

We are fearful, is what I conclude.

This is the reason why most people who express themselves on the grounds of such ‘alien’ concepts, much like what I’ve highlighted in this blog, need to keep on going, need to keep unveiling the verities of life.

It is not about which country is happy or which country is technologically advanced or politically sound! It is about countries, about governments that do ‘good’ – not for their people, but for the awe-inspiring good of humanity.

I want to leave you thinking about this, ponder over why the current situation of the world should result in the emergence of exceptional good. Corporations, businesses, governments, people, and all of us just need to embrace ‘doing good’ (in their actions).

It’s that simple!
