And so it came as a surprise when the kind people of Azarius send me a 20x extract of Blue Lotus (Nymphaea Caerulea), also known as Blue Water Lilly and Egyptian Lotus.

Blue Lotus still grows on the shores of lakes and rivers. And is for that reason, legal in many countries unbeknownst to the mainstream and even in psychedelic drug culture.

Blue Lotus effects:

The effects of the blue lotus are both narcotic and euphoric, becoming slightly hallucinating at higher doses. It’s also said that the flower improves sexuality and arousal and has a sort of Viagra effect.

Blue Lotus usage:

To make tea, take 0.5 gram per person and soak in hot water. For a traditional Egyptian drink, soak the flowers in wine for several hours. Use approximately 0.5 – 1 gram per bottle. Do not exceed recommended dosage: blue lotus makes the wine bitter and hard to drink.

My experience with Blue Lotus

One of the more profound experiences I remember having on the extract was after a lovely dinner in one of my favorite restaurants.

This was during my alcohol free period and as such I added the extract to a cup of tea.

About an hour later, I felt this warm feeling and colours became more vivid. It was already around midnight and through the extract I was able to get a glimpse of the Blue Lotus potential. A distinct smile appeared on my face and I remember a very satisfied bike ride home.

Sadly enough, during the process I had used up most of the extract already, but was eager to experiment further. And so I spend some time on the Azarius website where I found a 15x Blue Lotus tincture, which after exchanging my experience, was send to me to further experiment. The recommended dosage of the tincture is 6-10 drops in your drink or under your tongue.

For a couple of weeks, I shared the tincture when we were out clubbing, only to realize this clearly wasn’t the way to use it. But it was nevertheless worth seeing what it would bring. Which is too hard to tell with other drugs involved.

And so if I can make some recommendations myself:

  • Don’t mix Blue Lotus with other drugs, no matter how tempting
  • Take your time
  • Choose your trip buddies wisely
  • Have respect for the drug and ritual

Truth be told, all of the above pretty much goes for any drug.

Other than that, there’s not much that can go wrong and you’re likely to have a good time.

You can order Blue Lotus yourself on the Azarius website in both extract and tincture.
