To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd, a special animated trailer by Aardman Animations, the studio behind Wallace and Gromit, was released for a new play based on the album’s themes.
The album topped the charts in 1973 and remained in the charts for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988. With an estimated 50 million copies sold, it was their most successful album and is by many people, including myself, considered one of the greatest albums of all times.
Back in 1973 Sir Tom Stoppard was already approached by a friend who suggested writing a play based on the album. Now it’s 40 years later and he has created a story about fear, philosophy and madness, which is woven together with the original music.
