Once marijuana became legal in Colorado on January 1, 2014 the state’s pro-cannabis movement has been like an unstoppable freight train. And like Denver’s nickname, the “Mile High City” has not disappointed. Denver has created and included a variety of positive marijuana events to challenge the stereotypical image of marijuana and its users. As corporations, groups and individuals scramble to cash in financially on this historic moment in history, there is a culture that exists inside of it all that is purely known as the Reeferlutionists. With Reeferlutionists leading the way, Denver has created new opportunities for marijuana to showcase its power to unify people. In an effort to mainstream the legalization, events public and private, small and large have emerged.

One of the most media covered events was the Colorado Symphony Orchestra’s “High Note Series,” which marijuana can be enjoyed while taking in a High class musical performance. Not interested in a night of cannabis and culture, Denver’s County Fair added a Pot Pavilion to this year’s attractions. The pavilion hosted several pot related vendors and blue ribbon competitions; such as Best Buds and a joint rolling challenge. Remember this is nacho grandmother’s county fair; the Doritos eating contest was a mouth full.

Everyday more and more marijuana friendly social gatherings are popping up around the city. One of the more popular events is a twist on canvas and cocktails. Puff, Pass and Paint is a 2 hour class that offers a step by step painting course to create your own masterpiece. If you’re not looking to paint a masterpiece but be the viewer or maybe a critic, don’t worry. The Reeferlution Artist’s Show brought together a bold refreshing look of innovative marijuana fine art and marijuana inspired HIGH fashion. If it is a more intimidate setting you’re looking for, Three Kings Dab Supply offers coffee & conversation and a movie night. And let’s not forget Speak Easy Vape Lounge in Colorado Springs. It’s the cannabis club “Where everybody knows your strain.”

As Colorado writes the book on marijuana legalization, it is the people who are defining its enjoyment value and pastime entertainment. There is something for everyone in the Mile High City, with so many choices the best option might be to hop onto one of the marijuana tour buses and visit several places. If anything a person could learn that there is more to the marijuana lifestyle than smoking, it’s the enlightenment of understanding.
