Truffles: the first step in psychedelics

Psilocybin Truffles are for many people the first psychedelics they ever tried and are still legal to purchase in the Netherlands (and shipping to Europe).

If you have never done psychedelics, and would like to have some trips, we suggest to first try trip truffles. They are pretty much a toned down version of shrooms, but for example in the Netherlands, shrooms are now illegal to buy (but you can still purchase psilocybin mushroom grow kits) while truffles are legal and can even be bought over the internet.

The first time, we suggest to take 5 (or 10 if you feel good) grams of a medium strong truffle kind. Truffles should have a basic indication of what strength you have.

We can’t stress this enough, but if you go tripping, make sure you know what to do, what to do if it goes wrong (bad trip, and how you can get out of it) and make sure a preferably sober person is around in case you need anything. Secondly, relax. There isn’t a lot that can go wrong, and you will be mostly conscious of your actions (and if you aren’t, you probably won’t be going anywhere). Every truffle trip goes in waves; you will feel intense joy, laugh a lot and really connect to the music you are listening. When you don’t feel quite alright, a change in music can often do the trick.

There are three main ways to eat or drink truffles:

  1. You eat them regularly. The taste is often disliked, yet others don’t really mind. One thing is sure, you will know sure enough to what category you belong. Chew as long as you can (for about 10 minutes).
  2. You make tea. Cut up the truffles  in very small pieces and heat them in water for several minutes; do not boil the water or you will ruin the active ingredient. You can also add actual tea, to mask the truffles’ taste.
  3. Lemon tek: You slice the truffles into very small pieces and you submerge them in pure lemon juice for 15 to 20 minutes, after which you drink the juice (you can mix this with something else.). The lemon juice converts the psilocybine to psilocine (the active substance in mushrooms), a step that usually takes place in your stomach. Taking this step away, the trip will also become stronger and start sooner.

After you have taken the truffles you should relax, put some music on you like, and just lie down. The trip will last for about 6 hours (never jinx it, respect the drug),  after which we know from our own experience that falling asleep is pretty difficult. We highly recommend to smoke some weed, which should make falling asleep easier.

Truffles, while being pretty much “toned down” shrooms, shouldn’t be underestimated. You can go as crazy as you want, to stronger truffles and higher dosages. Personally we never went further than 25 grams dosage for one trip.

For some of us, truffles were the first kind of psychedelic drugs we tried, also because they are legal over here in the Netherlands. It’s a long way to go before you can call yourself a psychonaut.
